A Practise and the Cults, Black Magick, Lucifer and Moloch

A look at some aspects of a magickal path, including personal and cult deities and some thinking about the rise and the role of the cult in various expressions in the magickal path.

The way to achieve magickal significance, within whatever spheres you operate or wish to operate, is to build up magickal pressure in your life. Stepping up the waves of synchronicity, allowing the best to arise from chaos and uncertainty. Creating and collapsing and navigating probability waves from all possible futures and all possible worlds.

Our life is to become a magickal practise, a seeking and a study, a doing and a being, a passion and a living flame, a longing for more.

There's only so much that study and meditation and ritual can really teach you, if it isn't at work in your life and personality then it isn't real. If you want to understand deep things then you must be a deep person, if you want to be a great person then you must do great  things. Have magickal adventures and be the hero of your stories.

It's a journey and a path. Here are the major components of a practise of Rational Theistic Luciferianism, which is an occult path of self knowledge, wisdom and self actualisation.

  • Krav Maga or Ju Jitsu to master and control aggression and to build self confidence and challenge fear.
  • Yoga or Tai Chi, for the spirituality of the physical. For Yoga I recommend Hatha, for Tai Chi Yang style. Qi Qong is a useful companion to either.
  • Meditation, preferably straight mindfulness of breathing as taught by the Buddha in the Sutras. For discipline of mind and self understanding.
  • Qabbala or the Tarot, for occult mysticism and symbology. Chicken Qabala and Rider Waite to begin with.
  • Keep a magickal diary. Study and develop and communicate your own understanding of magick and your own magickal system.
  • Have an altar with personal and symbolic and mythological significance as a focus of ritual.
  • Find your cult.
  • Pick a range of personal deities across a selection of pantheons with personal and mythological resonance.
  • Ceremonial magick, demonolatory and invocation as ritual. The LBRP, a banishing ritual, makes a good basis for a regular pracise of ceremonial magic.
  • Tantra or sex magick, try BDSM, explore yourself.
  • Try sacred medicines, but at the right time and in the right setting. Find good Shamen. I especially recommend Ayahuasca.
  • Music, creativity, drama, stand up, art of any kind. Develop self expression. Make things, build things, or write.
  • Cultivate an understanding of the universe and modern science, from particle physics to medicine to the scientific method. Use it as a razor to avoid falling into absurdities like the conspiracy theories that riddle the New Age jungle. The Kurzgesagt video series are priceless for this.
  • Master something, know what it is to really master a subject. Know what deep understanding feels like. A gentleperson knows something about everything and everything about something.
  • Self understanding. Psychotherapy, deep relationships and deep communication. Deep honesty with yourself, facing yourself. Find ways to communicate who you are, identity culture and intersectional feminism are good for this.
  • Be your own master and learn from everyone. Stay thirsty.

You can't do it all at once, spend years over it. Done right your spirituality, the black flame, will touch every aspect of your life and understanding. Full growth requires full freedom, emotional, financial, spiritual, sexual. Wherever you are blocked or restricted your spiritual path is involved and must address. Face your deepest fears, get triggered, cross the abyss. Face your own death and accept it, stare relentlessly into the void.

Finding your cult or coven, those you commune with, is an essential part of the occult path. They're more often informal than formally organised and there are many different styles. A magickal order is a more formalised form of the cult.

The human creature burns with life best at the heart of a blaze. Fire is the true communion, the true communication. The cults are where the interesting research is happening, but beware groupthink which is the antithesis of intelligence.

It can take a while, you can be in multiple cults, and it's best when you let them emerge. Happen naturally. Coalesce, coagulate, congeal, bleed together. Friendship circles. Companions on the road, if only for a while.

Organisation equates to governance. Both are best avoided as long as possible. Governance creates responsibility, responsibility brings authority and authority corrupts.

Any living entity, which the true cult is of course, has to be self organising when it comes down tThe Kurzegesagt video series are perfect for this.o it. Our true wills align in the great work.

One heart, one mind, one soul. Unity of purpose and vision and understanding. The idealised cult. A common understanding without impinging on individual liberty or expression. Where the full actualisation of every individual is the delight of the whole.

It is the network of cults, along with the cooperation of the Discordian sleepers, who form the New World Order. The Satanic shadow theocracy infiltrating every aspect of life, seeping into the world like an invisible poison. Hiding in plain sight and laughing.

The value and the danger of the cult mindset is that it enables rapid change of the individual. It accelerates the capacity for inner transmutation.

A cult mindset, a manifested cult deity or ruling demon, works more powerfully with more minds joined to it. This works even for non-exclusive cults, it's more complex to form but non-destructive to the individual! That tends to be seen as an advantage. All the cults I'm in are non-exclusive, obviously.

A good cult mindset takes time and many people to build. It needs to operate seamlessly within mundane reality whilst extending into new aspects of reality, uncovering capacity and aspects of the divine within the mundane.

Dungeons and Dragons is great cover and purpose and occult exploration framework for your common or garden lowkey cult.

The only way to join The Cult of Isis is to hear the call directly from the goddess herself. Isis, all women and divine beauty with an Egyptian robe, is a name of terror to her enemies.

The Cult of Mithras is centred around the temple in London, The Mithraeum which is hard to access except in the right circles.

The Cult of Joshua the Christ are secretive and elitist and hard to find. They're Luciferians who equate Lucifer with the Christ, although they're not historical dogmatists. Interesting bunch of Satanists, I helped them with some of their theology.

There are Discordian sleeper agents all over the world and in every walk of life.

Many are the cults who fly under the banner of the black hoods of Satanic Fellowship.

Pick several deities and demons to work with, across the pantheons, reflecting different aspects of your character and the divine. Use worship and study and your altar and rituals to connect with your deities and connect them to wider reality within your psyche and life and rituals through both personal significance and mythological correspondences.

Developing your own system includes developing your own correspondences and significance for the mythological symbols, the spiritual entities and the deities. So your work with them echoes.

  • Siva, who is bliss, the joyful destroyer and friend of the poor. One of the Hindu trinity.
  • Michael, the Hebrew archetype of war and leader of the armies of heaven.
  • Loki the trickster, the madman who is not mad. Among the Norse pantheon.
  • Lucifer the light bringer, bright morning star.

These are some of the lights and deities I work with. I'm starting to work with more traditionally demonic deities as well.

In a minor sense every time you use the name of a demon or deity it is an invocation, summoning to mind their nature and presence. This is the basis of invocation.

Their name explains and reveals their nature. In that way I invoke Moloch and Beelzebub and Kali and Asherah regularly. Ritual is more refined and higher energy of course. Requiring regular practise and working that into a part of your whole magickal practise which should consume your life in the pursuit of the black flame.

That's a summary of the path and practise I recommend. With a philosophy as the foundation, and mysticism to explain why the mythology and pantheon work. Consistent with analytical psychology as a path of self understanding. Advocating extreme freedom and tolerance, compassion and strength, love and the black flame. Become as the gods.

There are several related definitions of the term "black magic", all of which are close but express slightly different ideas. The same is true for most occult terminology, including the related concept of "the left hand path" (*).

I work to the definition of magick that Crowley expounded: magick is the science of causing effect under will. By his understanding science itself is a system of magick. He emphasises pragmatism and empiricism, your ideas must work and that means work in practise. Crowley said of the pursuit of magick that it had the aim of religion but the method of science. Magick is doing things, having an effect, making a difference, and working out how to do that whilst you do it.

The only theory worth a damn is the theory of the practise, a praxis.

So these different definitions of black magick:

  • Evil magick. This is the popular definition magick that intends harm.
  • Magick that is dark in nature, of the night. The magick of the goths and the vampires.
  • Magick that works against the will, without the consent, of the people it operates on. Advertising is a low grade version of this magick.
  • Magick that is unseen.
  • Death magick, magick to do with death and killing.

Good and evil are human constructs. Pick your gods wisely and command the demons, be a lord of hell.

I like the last definition: black magick is magick that is unseen. The black flame is magick. The essence of life, the passion and fire of life, the black flame. All the frequencies of life unseen by mundane eye, obscured by illusion and familiarity.

Magick of the black flame is unseen, the operation of the gods (**) seen only by the effects. No one sees the wind, we only see the branches dance and the trees fall and the windmills move.

We harness the power of the unseen.  Lucifer as magician archetype.

(*) I'm right handed and some years ago I noticed that my left hand was nearly useless, and unused, in most situations. I was only living to half my potential. From that point on I started to deliberately use my left hand in preference for all tasks except writing, which I'm atrocious at even with my right hand. After many years I'm now pretty much ambiguous. This is what I tell people the left hand path is.

(**) For the philosophically atheist we see the gods as abstractions for thinking about perceiving and interacting with the living human systems common to those within the same and different cultures. The ability to think with abstractions being a powerful aspect of human consciousness. The gods are a facet of the mind for working with non-rational truth like feelings and intuitions, but their nature is amenable to rational understanding and conceptualisation.

In Rational Theistic Luciferianism Lucifer is both a deity and a symbol. The light bringer, chief amongst demons.

In traditional mythology Lucifer is the Devil, the rebel against the established order.

As the rebel against god, against the evil demiurge and conventionality, Lucifer represents and is a powerful force of individuality. The power of thinking for yourself.

In Anton LaVey's The Satanic Bible, Lucifer is one of the four crown princes of hell, particularly that of the East, the 'lord of the air', and is called the bringer of light, the morning star, intellectualism, and enlightenment.

In Rational Theistic Luciferianism we say that Lucifer represents the sacred self, the self archetype from Jungian psychology. The self is the totality of what it means to be a human.

In the journey of self knowledge and indviduation the self archetype is the last archetype encountered, the first being the shadow. Of the self archetype Jung said:

"the Self...embraces ego-consciousness, shadow, anima, and collective unconscious in indeterminable extension. As a totality, the self is a coincidentia oppositorum; it is therefore bright and dark and yet neither".

As the light bringer deity Lucifer is the spiritual incarnation, the ethereal embodiment, of all that it means to be the light bringer. All light that is shed forth and illuminates is carried by the light bringer. Wherever light shines forth, Lucifer is there.

In our growth and development as released individuals we see more of the light, the scales fall from our eyes and vision is undimmed. Wherever we are light is soon seen and the celestial and infernal light shines, the black flame is apparent. We embody Lucifer in our psyche and spirit and partake of the Luciferian nature. The idealised and fully actualised self is Lucifer, and the light shines.

Any personal journey into individuation takes the seeker into the qualities of the light bearer and the rebel against conformity. Every journey of the soul towards freedom is towards Lucifer. Lucifer then is both our freedom and the symbol of our freedom.

Moloch the Blind who is industry. Moloch is a god of the Canaanites and Ammonites, or even several gods, surnamed "the king" and feared as a demon king by the Hebrews. Moloch reenters popular culture, the thread of the mythological continuing to weave, prominently through Paradise Lost by Milton and Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Moloch is associated with child sacrifice, through fire or war.

The 12th-century Rashi, commenting on the Book of Jeremiah (Jeremiah 7:31) wrote:

Tophet is Moloch, which was made of brass; and they heated him from his lower parts; and his hands being stretched out, and made hot, they put the child between his hands, and it was burnt; when it vehemently cried out; but the priests beat a drum, that the father might not hear the voice of his son, and his heart might not be moved.

1 Kings 11:4-7

For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not wholly follow the Lord, as David his father had done. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem.

2 Chronicles 33:6

And he burned his sons as an offering in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

In John Milton's Paradise Lost (1667), Moloch is one of the greatest warriors of the fallen angels,

First MOLOCH, horrid King besmear'd with blood
Of human sacrifice, and parents tears,
Though, for the noyse of Drums and Timbrels loud,
Their children's cries unheard that passed through fire
To his grim Idol. Him the AMMONITE
Worshipt in RABBA and her watry Plain,
In ARGOB and in BASAN, to the stream
Of utmost ARNON. Nor content with such
Audacious neighbourhood, the wisest heart
Of SOLOMON he led by fraud to build
His Temple right against the Temple of God
On that opprobrious Hill, and made his Grove
The pleasant Vally of HINNOM, TOPHET thence
And black GEHENNA call'd, the Type of Hell.

He is listed among the chief of Satan's angels in Book I, and is given a speech at the parliament of Hell in Book 2:43–105, where he argues for immediate warfare against God. He later becomes revered as a pagan god on Earth.

Spirituality is on the rise again, an occult revival. More and more continue to be disaffected by the slave religions but are turning to modern variants of old religions like Voodoo and Satanism, often through the gateway of atheist philosophical Satanism.

This is alongside and part of a revolution of sexuality and identity. Identity like sexual orientation, race, gender identity, neurodiversity and so on. Religion and spirituality are further dimensions of identity, and for me finding and expressing my identity is a big part of my religion. Finding full self actualisation and expression through ancient religious symbolism and mythology within modern a philosophy and rational psychological approaches to theism is kind of my passion.

I love the focus on individuality and freedom within Satanism and having modern philosophy (albeit predominantly atheist) at the heart, allied with mythological power and significance from the old symbols across all pantheons and traditions. This is the same approach as the religion of Thelema.

It's lovely that there's a primarily philosophical movement around. People are doing real personal philosophy within the modern Satanist movement and I think that's beautiful.

I believe you can worship the old gods like Moloch, or their modern psychological incarnation, and partake of those energies without having to sacrifice any children. Our system sacrifices plenty of children, blood and death magick based on the sacrifice of the poor or different is a fundamental part of our established systems. We call it civilization. Those gods are still around, but they're not inherently evil - the evil was done by men and women and the modern system exists in the minds of men and women.

And not all death is evil anyway, it's the cycle of life and death and the endless cycle of rebirth, at work. We're sentimental creatures, it helps the species survive. We're animals, we live and die.

As we move in substance away from the Abrahamic religions and into atheism we find nihilism. The gods we had, celebrities have all fallen. Everything we thought we knew was wrong, science keeps proving this and the past keeps changing. We're at the mercy of forces beyond our control and nobody really understands what's going on, the virus has brought that home.

In the face of climate change and nihilism people look for purpose and meaning. The old rules about gender are changing, the old authority structures are changing and becoming less male, the patriarchal oil based system is less respected and the divine feminine arises and the spiritual arises out of the search for meaning and identity. The old gods reflect more aspects of reality, including the darker aspects we find in our present our past and our future, and the old gods are less tainted with the evil of the Abrahamic religions have wreaked. The demons are our warriors in fight against the demiurge, the scourge of the slave religions.
